[TAGUIG CITY, 08 November 2023] – MDI Novare and MindNation have joined forces to empower their employees with essential mental health skills. The first-ever Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training session, conducted by MindNation experts, successfully concluded on November 8, 2023.

The alarming increase in the Philippines’ suicide rate, with a 57 percent rise in 2020 compared to the previous year according to the Philippine Statistics Authority, underscores the urgency of mental health education. Additionally, MindNation’s Pulse survey revealed that two out of every 25 employees are at risk of suicide, emphasizing the importance of mental health support in the workplace.

Arcelyn Madamba, Total Rewards and Employee Services Head at MDI Novare, expressed the company’s commitment, stating, “Our employees’ well-being is a top priority, and partnering with MindNation for MHFA Training is a significant step in this direction.”

Ivan Garong, HR Director for Talent Retention at MDI Novare, emphasized the impact of the MHFA Training, saying, “Investing in mental health support is not just a business decision; it’s a human imperative. The three-day MHFA Training equips participants with the skills needed to assist colleagues in distress and crisis, covering essential topics:

  • Day 1: Mental Health First Aid Concepts And Principles
    Day 2: Mental Health First Aid In Motion
    Day 3 Booster Session: Suicide First Aid

The inaugural cohort of MHFA leaders, consisting of 11 participants for days 2 and 3, and a total of 62 employees for the virtual orientation on day 1, successfully completed the comprehensive three-day program on November 8, 2023. The sessions were skillfully guided by Ms. Eiza Fusingan-Lappay, Chief Well-being Officer, and Lead Psychologist of MindNation.

This collaboration between MDI Novare and MindNation is a clear testament to their shared commitment to employee well-being and the creation of a supportive workplace.
